WASH SECTOR

As an organization we seek to implement and promote community managed projects as we coordinate with other agencies in delivering WASH services. Our focus is on improving food security by providing support to agricultural production
 

ADRA Somalia Strategic Objective: Improved access to and utilization of essential and quality social services especially within livelihoods, education, water and sanitation.

 

List of WASH Projects in 2017:

 

1. Enhanced Access to WASH Services for vulnerable communities in Kismayo district (EAWS)

Description

 The programme will support strengthening of the capacity of govern-ment ministries as well as institutions and communities for equitable and sustainable WASH services.
Water supply will be developed from three areas that produce potable water in Kismayo (i.e. Buulo Ablika/Dalxiiska, Calanley and Farjano) and distribution infrastructure developed. Use of solar power for water pumping and efficient management of water schemes through PPP will improve lower cost for safe water supply. This programme will create synergies with education and health/nutrition interventions, and promote resilience through adoption of community-based approaches that strengthen local capacities for improved service delivery.

Objective

To reduce incidence of diarrheal and related child mortalities. WASH in Schools (WinS) will be implemented in 10 schools through 3-star approach, and making learning environment more child friendly, improving enrolment and school performance.
